DSC02363-crop-Alan-EadeA tree has been planted on the Green to recognise 25 years’ service to the community on the part of Alan Eade. Alan joined Histon Parish Council in 1987 and stepped down in 2012. That’s an impressive contribution.

However Alan has not only been an important community figure. He’s also had a long career in botany, he’s a keen sailor and a talented artist. Alan remains an active member of the Village Society, for which he’s contributed many paintings of village life, and a tree warden.

The tree is on the side of the Green away from the Phoenix and there’s a plaque to tell you why it’s there. The wooden fencing around it is wood recycled from the old gate at Homefield Park.
