Save the Cambridge Green Belt Campaign

Logo_2A number of action groups from South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge City have joined together to form the Save the Cambridge Green Belt coalition. We are campaigning to stop the Green Belt developments by raising awareness of the plans, promoting alternatives and organising events and a petition so that the views of residents are not ignored. Our goal is to persuade the councils to remove development sites within the Green Belt from their Local Plans.

A new website has been launched today together with an on-line petition that takes just a few minutes to sign. http://greenbeltsos.wordpress.com/ Please pass on the details to all your contacts.

You may be aware that South Cambridgeshire District Council launched the final consultation on the new Local Plan that runs until 30th September. In our view, the on-line consultation form is very difficult to complete. To assist people in completing the form easily and quickly we will be writing a step-by-step guide, including important points that will influence the government inspector. We will email it to everyone and make it available on our website. The Council’s consultation can be viewed at http://www.scambs.gov.uk/localplan

South Cambs District Council jointly with Cambridge City Council will be holding an exhibition at Histon and Impington Recreation Ground on Thursday 5th September 2.30 – 7.30 p.m
