After a successful first year the Flaming June Half Marathon returns on the first Sunday in June being 7th June.
In 2014 more than 650 runners enjoyed running through South Cambridgeshire rolling countryside in the multi terrain half marathon in glorious sunny weather.
The event organised by Friends of Histon & Impington Recreation follows a 13.1 mile route from the start in Impington following the Guided Busway support track to Histon before crossing country to Girton and then to Oakington.
Runners reach the halfway point at Reynolds Drove and the homeward stretch is along public footpaths back to Histon, with the finish line at Histon & Impington Recreation Ground.
Registration is now open at www.theflamingjunehalf.co.uk and the entry fee is £22.
Proceeds from the event will be used to improve community leisure facilities in Histon and Impington, and help develop sports and exercise activities for all ages.
The 2015 headline sponsors are Tucker Gardner, Holiday Inn at Impington and the Spirit Health Club.
Their generous support has helped the Friends provide 20 charity places to three charities:
- Blue Smile;
- Motor Neurone Disease Association; and
- the Brainbow charity at Addenbrookes.
Charity runner registration forms are available at the event website: http://www.theflamingjunehalf.co.uk/
